■ Ocean Loversは、Naoko Funakoshi が運営する、個人のホームページです。 私は、スキューバダイバー。海とそこに棲む生き物たちが大好きです。

　海は地球の表面の70%を占める広大な地域。そこには、数え切れないくらいの多種多様な生物が暮らしています。 陸上では森林が多種多様な生命を育み、二酸化炭素を吸収して酸素を排出する大切な役割を担っていることは多くの人に知られていますが、 海に関しては一体どれだけの人がどのくらいのことを知っているでしょう?

　海は、地球上に存在する水のうち、約97%を占めており、私たちが飲む水のほとんどは海が作り出しています。また、海は、人間に必要な空気の約80%を作り出しています。 そして、地球の温暖化による熱の約80%を吸収し、地球の温度を安定に保つ役割を果たしています。 海は、私たち地球上の全生命を育む、貴重な生命維持装置のようなものなのです。 陸上の森林が破壊されると地球環境の悪化が進むのと同様、海の環境が破壊されれば、地球全体の環境に計り知れないほどの甚大な影響が及ぶでしょう。 海を守ることは、海に生きる生物だけではなく、地球上の全生物、もちろん私たち人間自身をも守ることにつながるのです。

　2010年は、国連が定めた「国際生物多様性年」でした。 また、2011～2020年の10年間を「国連生物多様性の10年」（The United Nations Decade on biodiversity）とすることが、国連総会において決議され、正式に決まりました。

　海中世界を直接見ることのできる全てのダイバーには、海洋環境保護を訴えていく責任があると私は考えています。 美しい海、素晴らしい海洋生物たちを、この地球上に長く残したい。 そして、世界中の多くの子供たちに、海や海洋生物を守っていくことの大切さを伝えていきたい。私は今、海の大切さを次世代に伝えていくためのプロジェクトに取り組んでいます。同じ思いを抱く人々と、情熱を共有する場にしたいと思います。

■ Ocean Lovers - this is a personal website operated by Naoko Funakoshi. I am a scuba-diver and I love Ocean & Underwater creatures. I hope that beautiful ocean & wonderful underwater creatures stay healthy for a long time on this planet.

The ocean is our life support system. To protect  ocean & its creatures is equal to protect the entire environment of our planet and ourselves. 

I believe that all divers who can see underwater world have a responsibility to do their best to protect our oceans & its creatures as well as to raise awareness regarding the importance of protecting them.

2010 was the International Year of Biodiversity.　And The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the period from 2011 to 2020 as "the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity". 

  Now I am working on some project to help raise awareness regarding the importance of protecting our oceans - an important life support system for all creatures (including humans) on our wonderful Water Planet. 

I want to give many children a chance to see a lot of images of wonderful underwater creatures and to know how important it is to protect them.

And I would love to share my passion with many people who feel the same.

<Underwater Creatures' Photo Book (images from 100 divers from all over the world) as a donation for the children in the developing countries! >

  2010年12月、海洋生物フォトブック 『Wonderful Water Planet』 が遂に完成しました!  世界中の100名のダイバー (プロとアマチュア両方のフォトグラファー) から合計298枚の写真を寄付していただき制作した全52Pのオリジナル・フォトブックです(B5サイズ)。おかげ様で、2011年、NPO 「Room to Read」に、当初の目標の2倍の2,000部を寄贈することができました。これも皆様のあたたかいご支援のおかげです。心より感謝申し上げます。

The photo book 『Wonderful Water Planet』 was complete in December 2010!

Total 298 photos were contributed by 100 divers (both professional and amateur photographers) from all over the world. The book consists of 52 pages (B5 size).

I've donated totally 2,000 copies to  "Room to Read" in 2011, and also donated

some copies to children/schools in the other developing countries.

I deeply appreciate many people who helped this project - thank you very much!

    ■ Peace Winds Japan を通してハイチの学校(25校予定)にフォトブック200冊を

       寄贈いたしました。 (2011年2月)

　　  200 copies of the book were donated to Haiti through  Peace Winds Japan

       in Feb 2011- they will kindly deliver the book to about 25 schools in Haiti.   

    ■ インドネシア・マナドで2011年9月に開催されたCelebrate the Sea Festival に

　　　300冊を寄贈しました。そのうち、100冊はフェスティバルの海の絵コンテストに参加

　　　した子供たち100人に贈られ、200冊は現地マナドの子供たちに贈られました。

　　　300 copies were donated to Celebrate the Sea Festival which was held in

       Manado, Indonesia in September 2011. -- 100 copies were given to the

       children who participated in the festivals' ocean painting contest, and 

       200 copies were donated for children in Manado.
